Madison turns 3

Our granddaughter Madison turned 3 today (Oct 17).....oh how fast the last 3 years have flown by, LOL! We met up with her mom and dad (Rachel & Mark) at Jungle Jacs with her brother Sebastian and foster sister Kassandra as well as Uncle Matt. We had a really great fun filled day with the kids playing on slides and having lunch, then enjoyed some yummy cupcakes. Took some cute pics too.

Wow I cannot believe that it’s been since June that I was last here!

Our summer has had a lot of ups and downs. My darling hubby had a kidney stone that saw us in and out of the emergency room for weeks. They finally decided that it was too big to pass, so he was booked to have it sonic blasted…..unfortunately that didn’t work, it just sent it back up into his kidney. So it took a few more trips to the E.R. until they finally decided to operate, which is a story in itself!

Anyways, he is doing much better now and is back to work.

After all that was done, my dad was taken to emergency with a bowel obstruction. He had stopped eating and drinking, was in a lot of pain and had lost a lot of weight. He was in the hospital for about a week before he regained some of his strength and was feeling somewhat better….he’s now back home and enjoying life.

We had our 2 grandsons for a week in August. It was wonderful to have them. The weather was good and they were able to play outside a lot. Their Papa bought a paper airplane book and they spent a lot of time making paper airplanes.

Our Madison will be 3 next month (where did the time go!). She’s growing like a weed and is a real sweetie. We were just at their house for lunch and Madison & I had fun painting our nails.

I didn’t make too many cards of the summer but in the past week I’ve been making lots of them. I’ll post them as well as some photos of our life later on.

I totally forgot to add my Mother's day photos to my blog! I had a wonderful Mother's day. We started our morning with meeting friends of our's for breakfast at our favorite diner, then later on in the afternoon our kids and grandkids came over for a BBQ. The rain held off that weekend which was so welcomed. The grandchildren were able to play outside. I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day, I know I did! Below are a few photos of that day.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter. Ours was wonderful, full of family and friends. We had a great lunch with daugther Tracey on Sunday then headed out to son Mark's (and Rachel's) for a lovely dinner. They made a great meal with turkey, ham and roast beef with all the trimmings. This past weekend we celebrated our 17th Wedding Anniversary as well as hubby's 65th birthday. I love this stamp, it has all dressed in white above and below it but I've masked the text off to use as just the dress. I find using red, black & white a great color combo. The black sticker is from my local $ store and of course I added a few pearls, ribbon and bow to finish. I'm entering this at Mojo Monday for the sketch challenge.

this great stamp is from Great Impressions, I do like how my card turned out. This adorable image was free from Robyn's Fetish (thanks!). I just think she is so adorable! I've colored her with pencil crayons and OMS, added some stickles to the lollipop and a bit on her sneakers too! a very lovely friend of mine had a sweet baby boy this month! I know she's a bit too busy to be coming to my blog (at least I hope so, LOL) as I'm posting this before she'll receive it! My niece Jessica turned 30 on Mar 21st. Last Sunday we went to her darling little apartment to help her celebrate. Below are a few photos we took. I made her a lemon pound cake (her request) and decided to decorate it as well. Years ago I use to do cake decorating but you wouldn't know now, LOL.....anyways Jessica loved it and I'm happy she did, we had a lovely day.

Here's a quick card I made last nigt. When we were heading home from our visit with Madison we stop at a dollar store (I needed more pearls, LOL!) and I found these flower and border stickers (in the aqua, pink and black) and of course I wanted to play with them so I used part of the border and a few flowers for this card. I love challenges! Kaboodle Doodles has a great one called 'Break Tradition!' and use a different fold. Crazy 4 Challenges has a die cut challenge going on. I only have a few die cuts so went with the gift one. I used 2 of my fav color combo, pink & green.....swiss dot on top for some texture a pretty green bow and some pearls and there you have it, easy peasy, LOL!

My cardmaking friend, Connie made the picture flower of my granddaugther Madison and her ('far away' who lives in Sask) gramma Evelyn. Here I colored it red with my pencil crayons and OMS, keeping with the color scheme of red, black and white.....a great combination for any card. so a rectangle's not a square, right, LOL! A couple of years ago I received a great birthday card that was this shape/style and just loved it. Sortof a sideways pocket card that measures 7x4. My sorority sister Rita is our Chapter Sweetheart this year so I made this card for her. I used the Wedding solution and Alphalicious Cricut cartridges for her name, hearts and crown. We have a tea in a couple of weeks and I'll be giving it to her then....I'm entering this at Whoopsi Daisy for Anything but a Square challenge.

I know in alot of parts of our great world it is still snowy and wintery....but were I am we only get a bit of snow, we do get a lot of rain though, LOL! Anyways, I made this card for a friend of mine, she has a January birthday. I used the victorian embossing folder for the background and made the blue rose myself. I'm entering this at Our Daily Bread for the blues challenge.

this is not only a handmade card by me but I designed the geometric background as well just by playing on the computer! ok enough of blowing my horn, LOL! I just adore this little bird from Nina May at Paper Cupcakes! I'll probably use it a few more times, LOL! Thes 2 colors are not ones I usually work with but I like how this turned out. Flutterby Wednesday has a great challenge to use only white on white except for your image. This darling image is by Nina May at Paper Cupcakes. I wasn't sure I'd be able to do this but by using my Cuttlebug it worked great, lots of texture. The embossing folders I used were the textile for my background and swiss dot for my butterfly. I used a crimper for the hearts.

I like using the color combo of black and white so was happy to see that Easy Craft had a challenge for making one, yeah! I cricut cut the heart which is a bit hard to see with the ribbon going through it and I'd hoped that the beads I added would bring it out more but that didn't happen.....I'm sure my friend will love it though! I'm entering this at Paper Sundaes as well for the distress/tearing paper challenge.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2011. This is my first post of the year, wow....I have made lots of cards since Christmas but just have not had time to go to my favorite challenge blogs....but things have slowed down now and I'm checking out all my fav blogs and finding lots of challenges to do. So this card is for my great nephew who is turning 5 on Monday. The cute digi is from The Character Cafe and was just perfect for this card. I used my Cricut to cut out Liams' name and #5.

Our grandson Alex turned 11 today! How can that be, it just seems like yesterday when he was born....we went over to see Alex today and give him his card (and a wee bit of money), enjoyed a cup of tea and the antics of their cat. Below are a couple of photos I took.

Well Christmas has come and gone. I hope everyone had a wonderful one.

My family starts our celebration Christmas Eve. It’s always been our tradition to have it then as we’re a blended family. As the kids got older it was comforting to us to know they’d be home Christmas Eve, then spend Christmas day with their ‘other’ parents.

So this year my oldest son Matt, youngest son Mark and his family and my stepdaughter Tracey all came home. This year Tracey’s boys Alex and Thomas were with their dad...we sure missed them. And stepson Steve and his family weren’t able to make it down either and they were missed too.

Christmas morning was lovely, because as Tracey didn’t have the boys she stayed overnight with us. After she left to go home we headed to my older sister Lyn’s for a lovely ham lunch and a visit with her daughter and grandchildren. After that we went to my youngest son Mark’s home for Christmas dinner. And oh my what a lovely dinner they prepared. There was turkey, ham, prime rib, awesome potatoes, lots of vegetables and pumpkin tarts for dessert.

Santa was very good to all of their children. I spent part of the evening having a tea party with my little granddaughter Madison. She got a cleaning set with broom, dustpan, mop and sponges and had a grand time sweeping up after dinner, LOL!

On Boxing day my darling hubby made a great roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. Tracey and her boys, Alex and Thomas along with my son Matt joined us.

Here is a Christmas card I made this year. It's one of my favorites I sent out. I think my cards look better now because I bought a Cuttlebug this year. It just adds that little bit more to a card. I also believe belonging to my wonderful card group (Making Greeting Cards) has helped me tremendously.

This is a Father's Day card I made in 2008 for my darling hubby. I was just learning how to do iris folding and now it's one of my favorite techniques.
