a birthday card for my friend

My friend Karen's birthday is in a couple of days and she loves the color blue, so I've always tried to make her card using that color.
I'm entering it at Lady Anne's Paper Crafts for the Friday sentiment with a twist.
Here's my card:

LAPC 2nd color challenge

I'd been wracking my brains trying to come up with something for the color challenge at Lady Anne's Paper Craft
There's this amazing photo of a sky...I really liked it so followed suit with my fellow crafter Rosie and used it as my background paper.
So this is the card I'm entering at Lady Anne's Paper Craft. It's a thank you card for my chapter for the lovely yellow rose I received when I lost my sister, Chrystal.

A Celebration of Life

Yesterday we had a lovely Celebration of Life for my younger sister Chrystal, who passed away very suddenly on Aug 27th, 2012.
Her hubby, along with her daughter and her son and their spouses did a great job with getting everything together. There was an amazing turnout as well.
Although it was a long and emotionally tiring day, it was good to be able to say goodbye.
Here's a great photo of Chrystal and her hubby Victor at their wedding last year July 30, 2011.

Mini Cardstock Album

We had a swap last month at Lady Anne's Paper Craft to make
a Mini Cardstock Album. This is the one I made.

Friday Sentiment

Lady Anne's Paper Craft has several challenges going on at the moment.
The one I'm entering is called Sentiment for Friday with a twist. The twist being
to make twisted corners.
The tea cup is a digi image that I won from Angela at Crafting with Jack

celebrating Joe's 30th birthday

My nephew Joe turned 30 on Friday Aug 31st. He is my sister
Chrystal's son and one of her last wishes was for our family to
celebrate Joe's birthday at her favorite restaurant Venetis.
Joe's very in to Superman and legos so that's what I put on
his card
the yellow and blue in the card are
are some of the colors in the inspriation

a life taken too soon

So now for the sad news.....on Aug 27th my youngest sister
Chrystal lost her battle and passed away. She had been
very ill for the past couple of years with a number of
health issues and her frail body just couldn't take it.
Here's a great picture of Chrystal and her hubby Victor at her
daughter Jessica's wedding in June.

While she was in the hospital I made her a get well 'cake slice'.

Matt's birthday

My oldest son Matt celebrated his 36th birthday on Aug 22nd.
I'm not good at baking cakes anymore so I made him a 'paper
cake slice'
We had our grandsons Alex and Thomas for a week in Aug and
once I made the 'cake' they chose all of the candies to fill the
slices.
We went to my youngest son Mark's for a wonderful turkey
dinner.
Here's a pic of Matt and the 'cake' I made.

time to update

It's been since the middle of last month since I've been here.
Alot has happened in the past few weeks. Some good, some
bad.
Here's some good stuff first. We travelled up to Chase to see
my sister Sher, her daughter Kim and Kim's boys Elias & Adam.
It was Adam's 3rd birthday on Aug 27th and because we wouldn't
be able to travel up then, we decided to spend a few days earlier
in the month.
So up we go and the weather is absolutely unbearable! It was 39C
during the day and the night was around 32-34C. Our  visit was really
nice but the heat wasn't.
Adam and Elias are train crazy guys. So for Adam's birthday card
I made one with a train. I found this fabulous train stamp at
Walmart for under $5.00.....a great deal! Here's a picture of it.
